Wakatobi – Indonesian Marine National Park

It is a Good news for all those who love the underwater tourism. You do not have any more wasted time and effort to go Wakatobi Marine National Park, Southeast Sulawesi in Indonesia, and an ideal place to explore amazing underwater scenery. From now on, it is easier and faster to get than before, because many direct flights are expected to and from Wakatobi.
Some time ago, to reach Wakatobi, travelers must first went to Makassar and Kendari (capital of the province of Southeast Sulawesi) by air or ferry from Bali or Jakarta (for the moment, there is no direct international flights to Makassar). Then, have linked their travel by plane or boat / ferry to go to local Bau-Bau (City Transit) before they got the point of Wakatobi.

And the good news is that, Usman Syafei Jamal, as Minister of Transport of the Indonesian government made Matahora Airport official at the end of June 2009. The airport had been developed since 2007, located in Wangi-Wangi, a regional capital of Wakatobi. Matahora runway is 1400 meters and 30 meters of its length and width. Subsequently, it will be added to 2100 m in 2010 to the runway, which can be landed by plane like Boeing 737.
So, there are two airports handled in Wakatobi. The first is that operated by the Airport Maranggo Wakatobi Dive Resort, which serves from time to time direct flight from Bali to Tomia (exclusive holiday package / charter aircraft).
The second is the airport that we just talked about earlier, Matahora Airport. Now, there’s only ten o’clock SusiAir operating weekly flights (-Wakatobi-Kendari Kendari) and it only takes about 45 minutes in a single trip.
